Throughout his career, Joseph M. Sánchez has maintained a commitment to the arts in education. As an educator, he has participated in several Artist in Residence Programs, given lectures on art history and technique at elementary though collegiate levels, and held several workshops for adults, children, teachers, and students across the United States and Canada, including for the White Mountain Apache Tribe, at the National Indian Education Association, the Institute of American Indian Arts, and Dartmouth College.
Currently, Joseph is serving as a Curator and Artist in Residence at Portage College in Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada and worked with the Spectacle Architectural Firm to help design the new building of the Museum of Aboriginal Peoples Art and Artifacts on the campus.
In June 2024, Joseph was artist mentor for Cave and Basin National Park and the Whyte Museum in Banff, Alberta.
